Content Knowledge
The bachelor’s degrees completed by UPR Aguadilla teacher candidates are characterized by content depth and breadth. Results from the Educational Clinical Experiences Program Evaluation Instruments aligned with InTASC Content Knowledge, for three consecutive years are included in evidence 1.1.2. Also, EPP assess content knowledge in the Cooperative Teacher Survey. In addition, after the analysis of approximately 113 candidate’s performance in the last three years, evidence from the Rubric of Formative Evaluation of the Candidate demonstrates that standards are met. A 100% of teacher candidates score in outstanding and acceptable levels in the dimensions of content knowledge, the learner in its development and differences, planning for instruction, assessment and in its professional and ethical practice and development.
The PCMAS Public Policy 34, 2015-2016 (1.1.4 PCMAS public policy) is followed in clinical practice. The State Licensure Test Scores (PCMAS) includes the results for the academic years 2021, 2022 and 2023 (see PCMAS results)

For the last three years the candidates have approved the Fundamental Knowledge and Communication Competences component for the past three years. The Professional Competencies at the Elementary and Secondary levels are approved as well. Despite the results, the passing rates indicate that candidates are prepared with a solid content and professional knowledge in both EPP. Definitely, that success rate has been closely correlated with adequate preparation with collaboration and compromise of the faculty staff.
In academic year 2022-2023 thirty-four (34) out of thirty-four (34) candidates from our Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education, the Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education in English with Multimedia Technology, and the Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education in Education in English with Multimedia Technology at UPR-Aguadilla pass the Educator Certification Preparation Test (PCMAS) in Spanish acronym. Which means that (100%) of our teacher candidates comply with the requirement to be hired as teachers in Puerto Rico.
In academic year 2021-2022 eighteen (18) out of twenty-one (21) candidates from our programs pass the Educator Certification Preparation Test (PCMAS) in Spanish acronym. Which means that (86%) of our teacher candidates comply with the requirement to be hired as teachers in Puerto Rico.
In academic year 2020-2021 forty-seven (47) out of forty-eight (48) candidates from our programs pass the Educator Certification Preparation Test (PCMAS) in Spanish acronym. Which means that (97%) of our teacher candidates comply with the requirement to be hired as teachers in Puerto Rico.
During 2019-2020 PCMAS was not offered due to the Covid-19 Pandemic crisis.
UPR Aguadilla candidates took one of the five Puerto Rico High School Teacher Specialization Certification Tests (PCMAS) and over the past three years the institution pass rate is 89%. If we compare the PCMAS statewide average pass rate on 2021 was 97%, on 2022 were 86% and last year 2023 were 100% indicating that EPP candidates’ students were successful. These tests are designed by the CollegeBoard® to measure the knowledge and skills needed to teach each subject competently.
